53. An-Najm (62 Ayahs)
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
An-Najm • Ayah 2
مَا ضَلَّ صَاحِبُكُمۡ وَمَا غَوَىٰ ٢
EN · Sahih Intl. Your companion [i.e., Muḥammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred,
An-Najm • Ayah 3
وَمَا يَنط ِقُ عَنِ ٱ لۡهَوَىٰٓ ٣
EN · Sahih Intl. Nor does he speak from [his own] inclination.
An-Najm • Ayah 4
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡىٌ ي ُوحَىٰ ٤
EN · Sahih Intl. It is not but a revelation revealed,
An-Najm • Ayah 5
عَلَّمَهُۥ شَدِيدُ ٱ لۡقُوَىٰ ٥
EN · Sahih Intl. Taught to him by one intense in strength [i.e., Gabriel] -
An-Najm • Ayah 6
ذُو مِرَّةٍ ف َٱ سۡتَوَىٰ ٦
EN · Sahih Intl. One of soundness.1 And he rose to [his] true form2
An-Najm • Ayah 7
وَهُوَ بِٱ لۡأُفُقِ ٱ لۡأَعۡلَىٰ ٧
EN · Sahih Intl. While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon.1
An-Najm • Ayah 8
ثُمّ َ دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ ٨
EN · Sahih Intl. Then he approached and descended
An-Najm • Ayah 9
فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡ نَىٰ ٩
EN · Sahih Intl. And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer.
An-Najm • Ayah 10
فَأَوۡحَىٰٓ إِلَىٰ عَبۡ دِهِۦ مَآ أَوۡحَىٰ ١٠
EN · Sahih Intl. And he revealed to His Servant1 what he revealed [i.e., conveyed].
An-Najm • Ayah 11
مَا كَذَبَ ٱ لۡفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَىٰٓ ١١
EN · Sahih Intl. The heart1 did not lie [about] what it saw.
An-Najm • Ayah 12
أَفَتُمَـٰ رُونَهُۥ عَلَىٰ مَا يَرَىٰ ١٢
EN · Sahih Intl. So will you dispute with him over what he saw?
An-Najm • Ayah 13
وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ نَزۡلَةً أُخۡرَىٰ ١٣
EN · Sahih Intl. And he certainly saw him in another descent1
An-Najm • Ayah 14
عِند َ سِدۡ رَةِ ٱ لۡمُنت َهَىٰ ١٤
EN · Sahih Intl. At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary -
An-Najm • Ayah 15
عِند َهَا جَنّ َةُ ٱ لۡمَأۡوَىٰٓ ١٥
EN · Sahih Intl. Near it is the Garden of Refuge [i.e., Paradise] -
An-Najm • Ayah 16
إِذۡ يَغۡشَى ٱ ل سِّدۡ رَةَ مَا يَغۡشَىٰ ١٦
EN · Sahih Intl. When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].1
An-Najm • Ayah 17
مَا زَاغَ ٱ لۡبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَىٰ ١٧
EN · Sahih Intl. The sight [of the Prophet (ﷺ)] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit].
An-Najm • Ayah 18
لَقَدۡ رَأَىٰ مِنۡ ءَايَـٰ تِ رَبِّهِ ٱ لۡكُبۡ رَىٰٓ ١٨
EN · Sahih Intl. He certainly saw of the greatest signs of his Lord.
An-Najm • Ayah 19
أَفَرَءَيۡتُمُ ٱ ل لَّـٰ تَ وَٱ لۡعُزَّىٰ ١٩
EN · Sahih Intl. So have you considered al-Lāt and al-ʿUzzā?
An-Najm • Ayah 20
وَمَنَو ٰ ةَ ٱ ل ثَّالِثَةَ ٱ لۡأُخۡرَىٰٓ ٢٠
EN · Sahih Intl. And Manāt, the third - the other one?1
An-Najm • Ayah 21
أَلَكُمُ ٱ ل ذَّكَرُ وَلَهُ ٱ لۡأُنث َىٰ ٢١
EN · Sahih Intl. Is the male for you and for Him the female?
An-Najm • Ayah 22
تِلۡكَ إِذًا ق ِسۡمَةٌ ض ِيزَىٰٓ ٢٢
EN · Sahih Intl. That, then, is an unjust division.1
An-Najm • Ayah 23
إِنۡ هِىَ إِلَّآ أَسۡمَا ٓءٌ س َمّ َيۡتُمُوهَآ أَنت ُمۡ وَءَابَا ٓؤُكُم م َّآ أَنز َلَ ٱ للَّهُ بِهَا مِن س ُلۡطَـٰ نٍۚ إِن ي َتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱ ل ظَّنّ َ وَمَا تَهۡوَى ٱ لۡأَنف ُسُۖ وَلَقَدۡ جَا ٓءَهُم م ِّن ر َّبِّهِمُ ٱ لۡهُدَىٰٓ ٢٣
EN · Sahih Intl. They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allāh has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance.
An-Najm • Ayah 24
أَمۡ لِلۡإِنس َـٰ نِ مَا تَمَنّ َىٰ ٢٤
EN · Sahih Intl. Or is there for man whatever he wishes?
An-Najm • Ayah 25
فَلِلَّهِ ٱ لۡأَخِرَةُ وَٱ لۡأُولَىٰ ٢٥
EN · Sahih Intl. Rather, to Allāh belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].
An-Najm • Ayah 26
۞وَكَم م ِّن م َّلَكٍ ف ِى ٱ ل سَّمَـٰ وٰ ـٰ عَتُهُمۡ شَيۡــًٔا إِلَّا مِنۢ ب َعۡدِ أَن ي َأۡذَنَ ٱ للَّهُ لِمَن ي َشَا ٓءُ وَيَرۡضَىٰٓ ٢٦
EN · Sahih Intl. And how many angels there are in the heavens whose intercession will not avail at all except [only] after Allāh has permitted [it] to whom He wills and approves.
An-Najm • Ayah 27
إِنّ َ ٱ لَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱ لۡأَخِرَةِ لَيُسَمّ ُونَ ٱ لۡمَلَـٰٓ ئِكَةَ تَسۡمِيَةَ ٱ لۡأُنث َىٰ ٢٧
EN · Sahih Intl. Indeed, those who do not believe in the Hereafter name the angels female names,
An-Najm • Ayah 28
وَمَا لَهُم ب ِهِۦ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍۖ إِن ي َتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱ ل ظَّنّ َۖ وَإِنّ َ ٱ ل ظَّنّ َ لَا يُغۡنِى مِنَ ٱ لۡحَقِّ شَيۡــًٔا ٢٨
EN · Sahih Intl. And they have thereof no knowledge. They follow not except assumption, and indeed, assumption avails not against the truth at all.
An-Najm • Ayah 29
فَأَعۡرِضۡ عَن م َّن ت َوَلَّىٰ عَن ذ ِكۡرِنَا وَلَمۡ يُرِدۡ إِلَّا ٱ لۡحَيَو ٰ ةَ ٱ ل دُّنۡيَا ٢٩
EN · Sahih Intl. So turn away from whoever turns his back on Our message and desires not except the worldly life.
An-Najm • Ayah 30
ذٰ بۡ لَغُهُم م ِّنَ ٱ لۡعِلۡمِۚ إِنّ َ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَن ض َلَّ عَن س َبِيلِهِۦ وَهُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱ هۡتَدَىٰ ٣٠
EN · Sahih Intl. That is their sum of knowledge. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who strays from His way, and He is most knowing of who is guided.
An-Najm • Ayah 31
وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱ ل سَّمَـٰ وٰ ٱ لۡأَرۡضِ لِيَجۡ زِىَ ٱ لَّذِينَ أَسَـٰٓـ ــُٔواۡ بِمَا عَمِلُواۡ وَيَجۡ زِىَ ٱ لَّذِينَ أَحۡسَنُواۡ بِٱ لۡحُسۡنَى ٣١
EN · Sahih Intl. And to Allāh belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth - that He may recompense those who do evil with [the penalty of] what they have done and recompense those who do good with the best [reward] -
An-Najm • Ayah 32
ٱلَّذِينَ يَجۡ تَنِبُونَ كَبَـٰٓ ئِرَ ٱ لۡإِثۡمِ وَٱ لۡفَوٰ ٱ ل لَّمَمَۚ إِنّ َ رَبَّكَ وٰ ٱ لۡمَغۡفِرَةِۚ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِكُمۡ إِذۡ أَنش َأَكُم م ِّنَ ٱ لۡأَرۡضِ وَإِذۡ أَنت ُمۡ أَجِنّ َةٌ ف ِى بُطُونِ أُمّ َهَـٰ تِكُمۡۖ فَلَا تُزَكُّوٓ اۡ أَنف ُسَكُمۡۖ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَنِ ٱ تَّقَىٰٓ ٣٢
EN · Sahih Intl. Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones. Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He was most knowing of you when He produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your mothers. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears Him.
An-Najm • Ayah 33
أَفَرَءَيۡتَ ٱ لَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ ٣٣
EN · Sahih Intl. Have you seen the one who turned away
An-Najm • Ayah 34
وَأَعۡطَىٰ قَلِيلاً و َأَكۡدَىٰٓ ٣٤
EN · Sahih Intl. And gave a little and [then] refrained?
An-Najm • Ayah 35
أَعِند َهُۥ عِلۡمُ ٱ لۡغَيۡبِ فَهُوَ يَرَىٰٓ ٣٥
EN · Sahih Intl. Does he have knowledge of the unseen, so he sees?1
An-Najm • Ayah 36
أَمۡ لَمۡ يُنَبَّأۡ بِمَا فِى صُحُفِ مُوسَىٰ ٣٦
EN · Sahih Intl. Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses
An-Najm • Ayah 37
وَإِبۡ رٰ ٱ لَّذِى وَفَّىٰٓ ٣٧
EN · Sahih Intl. And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] -
An-Najm • Ayah 38
أَلَّا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ و ِزۡرَ أُخۡرَىٰ ٣٨
EN · Sahih Intl. That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another
An-Najm • Ayah 39
وَأَن ل َّيۡسَ لِلۡإِنس َـٰ نِ إِلَّا مَا سَعَىٰ ٣٩
EN · Sahih Intl. And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives
An-Najm • Ayah 40
وَأَنّ َ سَعۡيَهُۥ سَوۡفَ يُرَىٰ ٤٠
EN · Sahih Intl. And that his effort is going to be seen -
An-Najm • Ayah 41
ثُمّ َ يُجۡ زَٮٰ هُ ٱ لۡجَزَا ٓءَ ٱ لۡأَوۡفَىٰ ٤١
EN · Sahih Intl. Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense -
An-Najm • Ayah 42
وَأَنّ َ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱ لۡمُنت َهَىٰ ٤٢
EN · Sahih Intl. And that to your Lord is the finality
An-Najm • Ayah 43
وَأَنّ َهُۥ هُوَ أَضۡحَكَ وَأَبۡ كَىٰ ٤٣
EN · Sahih Intl. And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep
An-Najm • Ayah 44
وَأَنّ َهُۥ هُوَ أَمَاتَ وَأَحۡيَا ٤٤
EN · Sahih Intl. And that it is He who causes death and gives life
An-Najm • Ayah 45
وَأَنّ َهُۥ خَلَقَ ٱ ل زَّوۡجَيۡنِ ٱ ل ذَّكَرَ وَٱ لۡأُنث َىٰ ٤٥
EN · Sahih Intl. And that He creates the two mates - the male and female -
An-Najm • Ayah 46
مِن ن ُّطۡ فَةٍ إِذَا تُمۡنَىٰ ٤٦
EN · Sahih Intl. From a sperm-drop when it is emitted
An-Najm • Ayah 47
وَأَنّ َ عَلَيۡهِ ٱ ل نّ َشۡأَةَ ٱ لۡأُخۡرَىٰ ٤٧
EN · Sahih Intl. And that [incumbent] upon Him is the other [i.e., next] creation.
An-Najm • Ayah 48
وَأَنّ َهُۥ هُوَ أَغۡنَىٰ وَأَقۡ نَىٰ ٤٨
EN · Sahih Intl. And that it is He who enriches and suffices
An-Najm • Ayah 49
وَأَنّ َهُۥ هُوَ رَبُّ ٱ ل شِّعۡرَىٰ ٤٩
EN · Sahih Intl. And that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius1.
An-Najm • Ayah 50
وَأَنّ َهُۥٓ أَهۡلَكَ عَادًا ٱ لۡأُولَىٰ ٥٠
EN · Sahih Intl. And that He destroyed the first [people of] ʿAad.
An-Najm • Ayah 51
وَثَمُودَاۡ فَمَآ أَبۡ قَىٰ ٥١
EN · Sahih Intl. And Thamūd - and He did not spare [them] -
An-Najm • Ayah 52
وَقَوۡمَ نُوحٍ م ِّن ق َبۡ لُۖ إِنّ َهُمۡ كَانُواۡ هُمۡ أَظۡلَمَ وَأَطۡ غَىٰ ٥٢
EN · Sahih Intl. And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing.
An-Najm • Ayah 53
وَٱ لۡمُؤۡتَفِكَةَ أَهۡوَىٰ ٥٣
EN · Sahih Intl. And the overturned towns1 He hurled down.
An-Najm • Ayah 54
فَغَشَّـٰ هَا مَا غَشَّىٰ ٥٤
EN · Sahih Intl. And covered them by that which He covered.1
An-Najm • Ayah 55
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَا ٓءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ ٥٥
EN · Sahih Intl. Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt?
An-Najm • Ayah 56
هَـٰ ذَا نَذِيرٌ م ِّنَ ٱ ل نّ ُذُرِ ٱ لۡأُولَىٰٓ ٥٦
EN · Sahih Intl. This [Prophet (ﷺ)] is a warner from [i.e., like] the former warners.
An-Najm • Ayah 57
أَزِفَتِ ٱ لۡأَزِفَةُ ٥٧
EN · Sahih Intl. The Approaching Day has approached.
An-Najm • Ayah 58
لَيۡسَ لَهَا مِن د ُونِ ٱ للَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ ٥٨
EN · Sahih Intl. Of it, [from those] besides Allāh, there is no remover.
An-Najm • Ayah 59
أَفَمِنۡ هَـٰ ذَا ٱ لۡحَدِيثِ تَعۡجَبُو نَ ٥٩
EN · Sahih Intl. Then at this statement do you wonder?
An-Najm • Ayah 60
وَتَضۡحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبۡ كُو نَ ٦٠
EN · Sahih Intl. And you laugh and do not weep
An-Najm • Ayah 61
وَأَنت ُمۡ سَـٰ مِدُو نَ ٦١
EN · Sahih Intl. While you are proudly sporting?1
An-Najm • Ayah 62 ۩ Sajdah
فَٱ سۡجُدُواۡ لِلَّهِ وَٱ عۡبُدُواۡ ۩
EN · Sahih Intl. So prostrate to Allāh and worship [Him].
