Al-Balad • Ayah 1
لَآ أُقۡ سِمُ بِهَـٰ ذَا ٱ لۡبَلَد ِ ١
EN · Sahih Intl. I swear by this city [i.e., Makkah]

90. Al-Balad (20 Ayahs)
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
Al-Balad • Ayah 2
وَأَنت َ حِلُّۢ ب ِهَـٰ ذَا ٱ لۡبَلَد ِ ٢
EN · Sahih Intl. And you, [O Muḥammad], are free of restriction in this city
Al-Balad • Ayah 3
وَوَالِدٍ و َمَا وَلَد َ ٣
EN · Sahih Intl. And [by] the father1 and that which was born [of him],
Al-Balad • Ayah 4
لَقَدۡ خَلَقۡ نَا ٱ لۡإِنس َـٰ نَ فِى كَبَد ٍ ٤
EN · Sahih Intl. We have certainly created man into hardship.
Al-Balad • Ayah 5
أَيَحۡسَبُ أَن ل َّن ي َقۡ دِرَ عَلَيۡهِ أَحَد ٌ ٥
EN · Sahih Intl. Does he think that never will anyone overcome him?
Al-Balad • Ayah 6
يَقُولُ أَهۡلَكۡتُ مَالاً ل ُّبَدًا ٦
EN · Sahih Intl. He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance."
Al-Balad • Ayah 7
أَيَحۡسَبُ أَن ل َّمۡ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَد ٌ ٧
EN · Sahih Intl. Does he think that no one has seen him?
Al-Balad • Ayah 8
أَلَمۡ نَجۡ عَل لَّهُۥ عَيۡنَيۡ نِ ٨
EN · Sahih Intl. Have We not made for him two eyes?
Al-Balad • Ayah 9
وَلِسَانًا و َشَفَتَيۡ نِ ٩
EN · Sahih Intl. And a tongue and two lips?
Al-Balad • Ayah 10
وَهَدَيۡنَـٰ هُ ٱ ل نّ َجۡ دَيۡ نِ ١٠
EN · Sahih Intl. And have shown him the two ways?1
Al-Balad • Ayah 11
فَلَا ٱ قۡ تَحَمَ ٱ لۡعَقَبَةَ ١١
EN · Sahih Intl. But he has not broken through the difficult pass.1
Al-Balad • Ayah 12
وَمَآ أَدۡ رَٮٰ كَ مَا ٱ لۡعَقَبَةُ ١٢
EN · Sahih Intl. And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?
Al-Balad • Ayah 13
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ ١٣
EN · Sahih Intl. It is the freeing of a slave

أَوۡ إِطۡ عَـٰ مٌ ف ِى يَوۡمٍ ذ ِى مَسۡغَبَةٍ ١٤
EN · Sahih Intl. Or feeding on a day of severe hunger
Al-Balad • Ayah 15
يَتِيمًا ذ َا مَقۡ رَبَةٍ ١٥
EN · Sahih Intl. An orphan of near relationship
Al-Balad • Ayah 16
أَوۡ مِسۡكِينًا ذ َا مَتۡرَبَةٍ ١٦
EN · Sahih Intl. Or a needy person in misery
Al-Balad • Ayah 17
ثُمّ َ كَانَ مِنَ ٱ لَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواۡ وَتَوَاصَوۡاۡ بِٱ ل صَّبۡ رِ وَتَوَاصَوۡاۡ بِٱ لۡمَرۡحَمَةِ ١٧
EN · Sahih Intl. And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.
Al-Balad • Ayah 18
أُوۡ لَـٰٓ ئِكَ أَصۡحَـٰ بُ ٱ لۡمَيۡمَنَةِ ١٨
EN · Sahih Intl. Those are the companions of the right.1
Al-Balad • Ayah 19
وَٱ لَّذِينَ كَفَرُواۡ بِـَٔـايَـٰ تِنَا هُمۡ أَصۡحَـٰ بُ ٱ لۡمَشۡــَٔمَةِ ١٩
EN · Sahih Intl. But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left.1
Al-Balad • Ayah 20
عَلَيۡهِمۡ نَارٌ م ُّؤۡصَدَةُۢ ٢٠
EN · Sahih Intl. Over them will be fire closed in.1
